Create Your Walanda Account

Pick a role to begin. We'll explain what we collect and why at each stage.

What brings you to Walanda?

Pick the role that fits today. You can switch contexts or join other roles later.

Why we ask first

  • Your role chooses the right dashboard, learning surfaces, and admin tools.
  • Each role has its own info checklist — we only ask for what's needed.
  • You can change roles later by contacting Walanda admin.

What level are you?

This helps us show you the right courses and classrooms.

Why we ask now

  • Level decides what catalogue and classrooms you'll see — pupils don't get university content and lecturers don't pick school subjects.
  • If you switch later, you can adjust this from your account settings.

Where are you learning?

Pick the option that matches your situation. You can join an institution later from your dashboard if your circumstances change.

You'll learn independently on Walanda's public Course Platform.

Continue to review your account details — or use Back to change institutions.

Why we ask now

  • Institutional accounts unlock your school or university's private courses, classrooms, and bursaries — your registration is approved by their admin.
  • Private accounts use the public Course Platform only. Anyone — pupils, students, lecturers — can publish or enrol there.
  • You can switch later: add an institution to a private account, or keep a private side of work alongside an institutional account.

Pick your school

Search by name, city, or country. Only verified, active institutions appear here.

How you'll sign in

Your email and password are how you log in. Your username is your public identity.

Letters, digits, dots, dashes, underscores. 3–100 chars.
Creating your account with — no password needed. Finish the remaining steps and you're in.

Why we collect this

  • Email lets you sign in and recover access to your account.
  • Username is your public identity on courses, comments, and the marketplace.
  • Walanda hashes your password with bcrypt — the plain text never leaves your device.
  • Tokens use short-lived JWT + rotating refresh — you stay signed in across visits.

Tell us a bit about yourself

The basics for your profile, certificates, and personalised content.

Link your parent or guardian (optional)

You can keep learning without one — lessons, live classes, quizzes and assignments all work fine. A parent is only needed when you want to make a purchase or apply for a bursary. If your parent already has a Walanda account at this school, paste their Institutional ID here exactly as the school issued it — your school decides the format. You can also add a parent later from Settings.

Upload a clear head-and-shoulders photo so the school admin can identify you when approving your registration. JPG / PNG / WEBP, up to 5 MB.

Why we ask for your photo: it’s shown publicly on your Walanda teacher profile and in the “Find a Teacher” directory so learners and parents can recognise you. Providing it is optional. We process it only for this purpose under the Data Protection Act; you can change or remove it anytime in your profile settings.

How this is used

  • Name appears on certificates, course rosters, and Q&A.
  • Date of birth lets us deliver age-appropriate content and trigger guardian flows for under-16 learners.
  • Country and city help us suggest local courses and bursaries.
  • Phone is required — you'll use it to sign in, recover your account, and receive security notifications.

Role-specific details

We tailor this step to the role you chose.

No child details are needed here. Once your parent account is created, head to your dashboard's Children section to add each child — you'll provide their username and password, and Walanda creates the linked account.

You'll add children from inside your dashboard, not during registration. Each child gets their own username + password — email is optional for them (notifications and recovery route back to you).

No qualifications added yet — click the button below to pick a level (Certificate / Diploma / Degree / Master's / PhD) and the subjects you're qualified to teach.

Tell us about your business. Walanda admin reviews this before your products go live.

Pick the marketplace category your products will appear under. You can list more categories on individual products later.

Register your school or university. You become its tenant_admin. Walanda admin reviews and activates the institution before public access.

Filled automatically from your institution legal name. Edit if you want a custom URL — only lowercase letters, digits, and hyphens are allowed.
Attach your school registration certificate, PACRA / business registration, and any accreditation papers. At least one required, up to 5. PDF, JPG, PNG or WEBP — 10 MB each.

    What this step covers

    • Pick a role first to see what's needed here.

    Add your children (optional)

Add one or two children now, or skip and add them later from your dashboard. Each child gets their own login.

    WHAT THIS STEP COVERS

    • Up to two children right now. You can keep adding from your dashboard after sign-up.
    • Each child gets a one-time password you'll see on the next screen — copy it before navigating away.
    • Skip is always available. Your account is created without children — link them later.

    Quick review

Make sure everything looks right before we create your account.

    What happens next

    • We create your account and sign you in immediately.
    • For trader, institution, and private-instructor accounts, your verification stays pending — you'll see a banner until admin approves.
    • You can edit any of this info later from your profile settings.
