Welcome to the International School of Lusaka. The International School of Lusaka, founded in 1963, is one of the oldest international schools on the continent of Africa and is currently the third largest such school in the Association of International Schools in Africa. There are 700 students from over 60 different nationalities. The teaching staff consists of over 60 professional educators from dozens of countries. We are privileged to have a spacious green campus that is an oasis in the city centre where we have many modern, attractive classrooms, sports facilities, science labs, ICT rooms, a multinational library, performing arts, and play areas. Students at ISL are friendly and diverse, making it easy for newcomers of all backgrounds to feel welcome. Our experienced and qualified teachers have a great track record of helping students succeed. We are an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, that also offers the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC), and the prestigious International General Certificate of Secondary Education examinations (IGCSE). We have international mindedness in our hearts and encourage students to become knowledgeable, principled, and open-minded. Our comprehensive learning support department and after-school academic support helps all students find success. Our students begin their education with the IB Primary Years Programme, an inquiry-based curriculum organized around broad, transdisciplinary themes and end it with the IB Diploma Programme, a challenging university preparation course. We believe in learning beyond the classroom. We have an extensive selection of after-school activities, including sports teams, arts, clubs, and events such as Model United Nations. Community service is an integral part of our school throughout all year groups.
